Since 2011, True Grit Engineering has created numerous partnerships with northwestern Ontario communities namely: Oshki-Aki LP, Kahsenah LP, KI 209 Engineering and Boundary Waters Engineering. The joint venture partnerships are designed to create new capabilities in northwestern Ontario indigenous communities, providing technical support and expertise in the areas of civil engineering, environmental engineering, and planning and development. One-hundred percent of all profit from the joint ventures are directed back to the communities.
Many of the projects completed by the partnership firms have focused on development and renovation, enriching the life of the community, while also prioritizing local subcontracting and material sourcing opportunities to the communities themselves. For example, Oshki-Aki LP, the first joint venture partnership for the firm (2011), completed a project which incorporated heritage, public art, environmental greening and beautification of the Pow Wow grounds in the community of Fort William First Nation.
